 Press Releases

  • As a market leader in minerals, nutrients, lipid powders and cereal ingredients, Balchem along with recent acquisitions Bergstrom Nutrition and Kappa Bioscience, are showcasing the latest consumer insights and trending health benefit platforms through concepts, prototypes and market research at Supply Side West 2022.

Balchem, booth 5236 will feature findings from a recent proprietary attitude and usage study, Consumers’ Redefined Path to Wellness, and share insights on today’s Disrupted Consumer. The research revealed a shift in consumer mindset around health and wellness, with mental, physical, and emotional health generating top interest. The path to wellness may continue to evolve, but consumers have made behavioral changes that are predicted to remain. 75% of US adults say they will increase the time and money spent on health and wellness activities as part of their new way of looking at living life well.

Driven by the new consumer insights, Balchem has developed prototypes that feature key ingredients to support cognition, immunity and longevity.

The most crucial time period for supplementation of choline comes during pregnancy and the latest research shows significant benefits to infant cognition. Just 4% of pregnant women in the United States are getting enough choline when they need it most, and experts recognize that many prenatal vitamins do not contain choline or only contain small amounts. Moms who supplement with the award-winning ingredient VitaCholine® have been clinically shown to improve cognition in their infants, with benefits shown to last well into childhood

Taste the latest innovation in prenatal supplementation, a commercially scalable high-load gummy, delivering the total adult choline RDI of 550mg in just a three-gummy serving.

Next, the Boost U trio of stick packs, catering to the desire for alternative supplement formats, include:

    • Boost U Immunity, with Z-life™ Zinc Max, a zinc bisglycinate chelate containing 27% elemental zinc. Zinc Max is ideal for various dietary supplement applications and is suitable for vegetarian and vegan lifestyles, is silica-free and not labeled USDA bioengineered (BE)

    • Boost U Cognition, with VitaCholine® as the source of choline, an essential nutrient for brain health. A recent proprietary consumer concept test revealed a 6% increase in purchase intent vs the market-leading cognition supplement

    • Boost U Longevity, helping to build the foundation today for a healthier tomorrow. The longevity prototype features Z-life™ zinc bisglyincate chelate, MetaMag™ magnesium bisglycinate chelate and VitaCholine® as the source of choline, an essential brain nutrient

Listen to live talks from Balchem, Kappa and Bergstrom on various trending topics. See the full agenda here.

Kappa Bioscience®, booth 5845, will feature the latest science on Vitamin K2 and cardio-vascular health.  New research from the AVADEC Trial demonstrates that Kappa’s K2VITAL® helps support heart health, longevity, and healthy aging.

This research from Odense University Hospital in Denmark presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress reveals a link between vitamin K2 MK-7 + Vitamin D supplementation and coronary artery calcification (CAC) development. The double-blinded, placebo controlled clinical trial used Kappa Bioscience’s vitamin K2 MK-7 solution (microencapsulated version K2VITAL® DELTA) as one of the active ingredients tested.

As the leading manufacturer of vitamin K2, Kappa Bioscience® is launching the first USDA organic-certified all-trans, all-bioactive vitamin K2-MK7 for oil-based health applications to the US market – K2VITAL® MCT Organic. Making its debut at SupplySide West 2022, visitors are invited to discover how Kappa’s cutting-edge K2VITAL® MCT Organic solution is creating new opportunities for health supplement manufacturers to enter the growing organic space with premium products.

K2VITAL® MCT Organic is certified by Quality Assurance International (QAI) in line with the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) organic program and international standards - giving it the organic seal of approval. Additionally, it is soy-, palm- and allergen-free, vegan and Halal, Kosher and non-GMO certified. Offering a shelf-life of 36 months, the solution is available in liquid oil form in various concentrations and sizes.

Both Balchem and Kappa booths will feature a new immune health prototype, Power Boost, a powerful combination of K2VITAL®, Z-life™ Zinc Max and Wellmune® in one delicious shot.

Finally, Kappa and Balchem are joining forces to add more trees to the Kappa Forest. Attendees who visit both booths will have a tree planted in their name. To date, Ecologi has planted over 37,000 trees and counting for this initiative!

Bergstrom Nutrition, booth 4470, will feature the latest clinical research on OptiMSM® (methylsulfonylmethane) and its role in “beauty from within”. A new study focused on OptiMSM’s benefits for hair suggests an improvement in hair thickness supported by the micrometric measurements and self-assessment, as well as the improvement of hair density, growth, and strength, all reported through self-assessment.

An additional subjective study recently conducted with Media Lab Science highlights OptiMSM’s positive effect on hair, skin, and nails. Bergstrom will premiere a new video in their booth showcasing these collective benefits with an exciting new approach.

Widely recognized for key longevity health benefits, including joint and bone health, immunity, sports nutrition and inflammation support, OptiMSM® is a bioavailable source of sulfur that helps to deter the accumulation of oxidative damage. MSM’s ability to reduce oxidative stress, down-regulate the expression of inflammatory markers and mitigate inflammation supports its inclusion in numerous wellness platforms. Bergstrom Nutrition continually drives research to support the broad utility and uncover new applications for MSM.

Make sure to stop by the Balchem (5236), Kappa (5845), and Bergstrom (4470) booths. Together, let’s walk the path toward living well.
